Local Hotel Team Members Help to Strengthen the Community by Serving Children's Hunger Fund
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS “ OCTOBER 15, 2015 - “ HILTON PALACIO DEL RIO- In celebration of Hilton Worldwide annual Global Month of Service, throughout October, more than 25 volunteers from Hilton Palacio del Rio have donated their time to Children's Hunger Fund by packaging perishable goods for the less fortunate in San Antonio area. Children's Hunger Fund is a cause very near and dear to our property, as this will be the fourth consecutive year we are partnering with the organization,â€said Robert Thrailkill, general manager at Hilton Palacio del Rio. “Our team prides themselves on not only being the best at what they do professionally, but also through giving back to the strong community that has helped us get to where we are today, both as a fine hotel property as well as individuals.†October may be Hilton Worldwide's Global Month of Service, but Palacio del Rio is dedicated to a year-round community service initiative. This year alone, the hotel has partnered with eight separate local organizations, including Boysville, Fisher House Foundation, The Salvation Army, and United Service Organizations among other. Projects included a variety of tasks, ranging from landscaping and housekeeping to donation drives and assisting during community events. We are so grateful for Hilton Palacio del Rio for not only generously sponsoring our dinner event, but also allowing their staff to come out and donate time to pack Food Pak boxes that will be sent to children in crisis,†says Dave Phillips, President and Founder of Children’s Hunger Fund, a charity dedicated to delivering hope to suffering children in the US and around the world. Global Month of Service is Hilton Worldwide largest annual community service initiative and mobilizes hundreds of thousands of Team Members from every region to engage in numerous volunteer events and activities happening around the world. Volunteers offer their time to support a wide range of projects including conserving natural resources, mentoring and training young people, creating amenity care packages for communities in need, collecting surplus food and distributing to under-served communities and aiding local communities devastated by disaster. Since its inaugural service celebration in 2012, Hilton volunteers have provided support to more than 6,700 projects worldwide contributing more than 300,000 hours of community service. Last year in just one week, Hilton hosted more than 3,500 projects in 86 countries, volunteering more than 150,000 hours. The company aims to complete 3,750 projects across its global footprint.
